Testing for 3rd Graders
.
Because some feel that third graders should not be exposed to the pressures of a full battery of tests, some schools choose to administer only parts of the whole Iowa Assessments Complete test. These children usually take only the Core. (Reading, Written Expression, Math, Vocabulary, Spelling, Capitalization, Punctuation and Computation) If you choose not to give your third grade students the complete battery, that is acceptable. However, it is required that you administer all of the tests for your third graders EXCEPT:
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Word Analysis
  • Listening
Some teachers and administrators want third graders to take the entire battery to help them plot growth in all areas. Although it is not recommended, a school may choose to administer the entire battery. There is no additional charge.

If you have questions, please feel free to call the conference office and speak to Lynal Ingham or Jean Davis (925) 603-5067.
